Before you set off

• The La Foux bottleneck. All driving times are off-season estimates. In July and August, allow up to twice as long towards Saint-Tropez, Ramatuelle and Pampelonne. For Saint-Tropez, the Bateaux Verts ferry from Les Marines (25 min, €15.30 return) is almost always quicker than driving, and leaves from your marina.
• Fréjus Zoo: its final weeks. Fréjus Zoological Park closes permanently on 30 August 2026. If you would like to visit, now is the time.
• Marineland (Antibes) has been closed since January 2025, as has the Institut Paul Ricard aquarium on Les Embiez. Older guides still list them.
• Hiking in August. Access to the Var’s wooded hills (Maures, Cap Lardier) is regulated daily according to wildfire risk. Check the prefecture’s map (var.gouv.fr or the MyPredict app) that morning.
• Azur Park opens only in the evening (7.30 pm–12.30 am), until 6 September. Admission and parking are free; rides are paid separately.
• Prices and opening times were recorded in August 2026 as a guide. Calling before a 40 km journey is the best way to check, especially for smaller venues.
